Applesauce muffins

Applesauce muffins( With substitutions)

For home economics we made applesauce muffins, some of the muffins had slight substitutions like Canola & milk, canola & soy, butter & wholemeal flour, soy & wholemeal flour, Canola & wholemeal flour, then butter & soy. We had to go around and taste all of the applesauce muffins with different substitutions and then we had to judge them on a sheet we had. My group made the original applesauce muffins but we added a chocolate chips in the middle.

Here is the recipe

Here are my ratings I only got a certain amount and not the whole lot because I ran out of time to try all of them.

Original: The original was pretty alright it had flavour and the chocolate chip really added to make it better, however the muffin itself was in the middle of cooked and not cooked so it was a bit soggy but not to the point where I couldn't handle it.

Canola and Soy: It was a bit wet in the middle didn't really have a taste I feel like they could have cooked it more.

Butter and wholemeal: Tasted really good was cooked properly, this group cooked it perfectly even though it didn't have a really good flavour the muffin was cooked very well and wasn't raw I was very impressed.

Butter and soy: This one didn't really have a flavour it didn't taste or look very appetising, when I was chewing it was almost difficult to keep in my mouth because of the texture I felt like I had to keep chewing in order to swallow it. I feel like they could have been faster and cooked it more to make it better.

Overall general comment:
I feel like the overall whole thing was really interesting,  the food was a bit tasteless but I guess if I had no choice and was in a life or death situation I would eat the muffins again
How did my group work together:
My group worked really well together everyone was doing something to contribute to the cooking and there was no arguments on any of the rolls we had, even though we were in a rush everyone ended up staying calm and we didn't mess up anything.

Power to the people Hurumanu 6

Power to the people Hurumanu 6

We were told to create, a good name for "Power to the people" because we are creating a political party for our kahui, Tieke. We made a slogan that was inspired by Bob the builder's theme song. We have groups of five and all from different wananga classes. Here is our poster and logo that we made, and our slogan.

Art- Hannah Höch inspired Art

 Art-  Hannah Höch inspired Art

For art this term we have been learning about the artist Hannah Höch she is best known for her feminist photo montage work,  Hannah Höch's work is very interesting because she cuts and crops her own pieces of work to express how she felt in a very artistic way. We got to make our own Hannah Höch inspired photo montage pieces but instead of cutting stuff with scissors we had to do it digitally. This was very challenging for me cutting out pieces on a background remover and fitting the pieces together but I also learnt alot of neat techniques on google drawing and I got to express my opinions freely. I will now be showing off my photo montages.

When I was creating my photo montages it was very difficult for me to find inspiration but I found that looking at one of her art pieces gave me alot of inspiration and I really like how my photo montages came out.

End of life choice Referendum

 End of life choice Referendum

What is the end of life choice about:
This basically gives a person over the age of 18 that has a terminal illness and a certain amount of time to live the option of assisted death, so if they are in to much pain and just don't want to suffer anymore they can choose to end their life peacefully and painless.

What is the criteria to have the option of assisted death:
To be eligible for assisted death you need to be 18 years or older, be a permanent citizen of New Zealand, suffer from a terminal illness that's likely to end your life within 6 months, have ongoing decline in physical capability, experience unbearable suffering that cannot be eased, and be able to make an informed decision about assisted dying.

Positives and negatives:
The positives that I can think of is they get to stop their suffering and be at peace, they don't have to live the rest of their life worrying about when they might die, they know when they are gonna die.
Negatives -  The negatives are that some doctors don't feel comfortable with this because they want to save lives not end them.

Do I support this or not?
Yes I support this I feel like if this person really wants this then its what's best for them its their choice and it end suffering.

The guitar

The guitar

For music we are learning how to play the guitar

What is challenging about Playing/Learning the guitar? I think the challenging part is trying to stretch my fingers out because I have small fingers and also getting the chords sound right.
What are the differences between guitar and ukulele? Which one is better/easier for you to play and why? Well the obvious difference is that one is physically smaller and the other bigger, I think for me the ukulele is easier to play because its little and the chords are pretty easy for me.
Find a song that you like where guitar is the main instrument. Add the link to your blog and explain who performs it/sings it and why you like it . I like the song about a girl by nirvana the live version I like it because of the sound and how good the guitar sounds. song

Structure of New Zealand's Government Hurumanu 6

Structure of New Zealand's Government Hurumanu 6

In our Hurumanu Power to the People, we are learning about New Zealand's politics & how the government runs. New Zealand is democratic and has an election every 3 years. Democracy is a form of government in which the citizens hold political power and can vote. New Zealand is also a constitutional monarchy with a parliamentary system of Government. Our head of state is presently Queen Elizabeth II. At the moment she is represented by the Governor - General, Dame Pasty Reddy.  New Zealand's Government is made up of four different categories/groups, these include the head of state, Legislative, Executive and, Judicial.  Throughout creating this poster I learnt about parliament and how it works, I also learnt about what judicial means.

Potato frittata- Home economics

 Potato frittata- Home economics

In home economics we made potato frittata, we used eggs, cheese, potato's, salt and pepper, peas, and corn.

Sight: I think our food didn't look very appetising simply for the fact that my group didn't add the other vegetables so it would give our food that colour pop so it looked very average and boring.

Smell: I didn't particularly enjoy the smell of the dish because of the egg.

Taste: Our dish honestly tasted pretty good it had enough salt and pepper and the food was all cooked evenly.

Rate your food product:
6/10 our food was very delicious but it didn't look all that good.

What could you do differently to improve the rating of your food product next time?
I think we could be more experimental with the vegetables we use to make it more appetising

How did the team work together?
My team worked really well together there was no arguments and we all did the jobs we were suppose to with no disagreements we got it done.
