Hannah Höch poster

Hannah Höch poster

For art we had to make a poster including 6 facts and 4 photographs from the artist Hannah Höch, the twist to this is we were not allowed to use google drawing we had to use google docs, and tables to make a stunning poster to present.

Diffusion/Particle theory - Hurumanu 3

Diffusion/Particle theory

This week our focus is about particle theory - and how particles move

Aim- Investigate if particles diffuse faster in hot or cold water

Hypothesis- I think that the particles will diffuse faster in hot water

Method- fill up 2 petri dishes one hot one cold
               Add the potassium permanganate

Particle Theory

1. Particles make up everything
2. Particles are always moving
3.Particles are attached to each other
4. Hotter= faster
5. Colder= slower
6. Always space between particles

Results:
the hot one did end up going purple faster

Discussion: I think it happened because when particles are in a hotter environment it tends to move faster then when it is in a colder environment.

Music Task

Music Task
Music term 3

Why did you choose music?
I chose music because i'm very passionate about music and its helped me a lot

What would you like to learn in music?
Guitar because I know how to play a little bit but not a lot and I'd like to improve

Do you play an instrument? for how long? What can you play?
Yeah I play electric guitar, and sometime acoustic, I've been learning for like 2 years on and off.
I know how to play tabs and that.

Who is your favourite singer/band why?
Kurt cobain/Nirvana because their music really inspires me and I relate alot.

Name 5 of your favourite songs?
The cure - lovesong
2pac- hit em up
Crumb- fall down
Korn- twist
Kora- Burning

Evaporation Experiment

Evaporation Experiment
For chemicals and chaos we have been learning about evaporation, evaporation is when liquid turns into gas, for example if a liquid is heated up to its boiling point it will evaporate and turn into a gas.

Aim:
We are doing this experiment to learn more about evaporation and to learn how it works and what will happen to the copper sulfate.

Hypothesis:
I think that we will see some gas and some of the copper sulfate will evaporate.

Equipment: Copper sulfate solution, 250mL beaker, Heat proof mat, evaporating basin, element.

Method:

  1. Set up the element
  2. Add 100mL of hot water to the beaker and place on the element
  3. Add copper sulfate to the evaporating basin till its a quarter full
  4. Carefully, place the evaporating basin on top of the beaker
  5. Turn on the element to 8
  6. Heat the solution until most of solvent has been evaporated and crystals of solute are forming.
  7. Turn off element- careful not to touch as will be hot for a long time.

Observation: As time goes by we see that inside the beaker there where bubbles forming, and maybe a few drops of water & you can slightly hear the small bubbles popping or the sound of boiling happening.

Conclusion: The experiment did not work as the element we were using didn't heat it up enough.

Evaluation: It was fun but, it didn't go as planned but now we see that we may need to adjust some things next time around.
