How a water cycle works
For science this term we are learning about fossil fuels and climate change. We are doing this experiment where we are seeing what happens when you inclose water in a Ziplock bag and leave it in the sun. The steps and methods below explain what I think is going to happen and what we did.

Title	How a water cycle works
Purpose	To find out how the water cycle works
Materials	-Large ziplock bag x 2 -Black vivid x1 - 1 cup of water - Blue food dye - Baking soda  -Litmus paper -Double-sided tape
Steps	(Experiment 1) Grab the large Ziploc bag Draw the water cycle on the large Ziploc bag (in vivid) Show Mr palmer the drawing. Mr palmer adds 1 cup of water into the large Ziploc bag Then he adds 2 drops of blue food dye  And then you stick it on the window where the most sun gets through and wait (Experiment 2) Repeat step 1 and 2 of the first experiment. Show Mr palmer your drawing on the ziplock bag Mr palmer will then add 1 cup of water into the Ziploc bag Then he will add 2 drops of blue dye And then 1 tsp of baking soda  Stick your double-sided tape on and then stick it on the window and wait.
Conclusion	Experiment 1 I think the outcome of this experiment will be... Not so drastic as the 2nd experiment I think the water will either evaporate or collect water. What actually happened Experiment 2 I think the outcome of this experiment will be more interesting and have a lot more outcomes than the first mainly because it has baking soda and is enclosed in a Ziploc bag, therefore, creating more carbon dioxide then experiment 1  and carbon dioxide is a fossil fuel.

Brando "WildBoy" Yelavich: Book review

This week we are reading WildBoy the book here is most of the information I got from the book.

Brando“WildBoy" Yelavich

Brando Yelavich is also known as “Wild Boy” Got his name because he was the first person to walk the New Zealand coastline which is 15,000 kilometres long and on top of that filled with stretches of beach, sheer cliffs, sharp and slippery rocks etc. But there was still possibilities of hypothermia, drowning or even serious injury but that did not stop Wildboy for achieving his goals.

Brando said “I’d been told so many times that most people are ‘gunnas’”, Brando says “They’re gunna do this gunna do that. I decided to be a doer.

He also decided he wants to be self-sufficient along the way: Hunting, Fishing, and Foraging for food. Wildboy’s biggest challenge was surviving off the land sometimes the food was gross, sometimes it was good, and sometimes he didn't eat at all.

Brando yelavich Walked the coastline to raise 10,00 dollars for Ronald Mcdonald house he raised more than anticipated and managed to raise 30,00 dollars. Also after the big walk he writes the book wild boy and it went onto best sellers .

Aerodynamics chemistry work

FLIGHT

Aim: To learn about flight and aerodynamics. 

• In your groups of 3 you will make a paper plane and measure its distance and behaviour.
• In groups of 3 you will make a water rocket and record its distance and behaviour. 

Definition:
According to Google:

the study of the properties of moving air and 

the interaction between the air and solid bodies moving through it.

4 forces of flight:

1.   Gravity
2.  Drag   
3.   Thrust
4.   Lift

Paper Plane:

Material:

1. Paper
2.  Scissors

Steps:

1. Fold lengths way
2. Fold it again
3. Fold corners

Findings:

Plane Type	Distance	Behaviour
Normal	5m	straight line
Ailerons	3m	Curves to the side   but straight
Paper clip	5m	straight

Conclusion:

We found that the normal plane flew straight for 5 metres. Secondly, the Ailerons also directed straight but curved a little bit at the end as well and it flew 3 metres. Also with using the paper clip, the paper plane flew 5 metres and it flew straight. Aerodynamics is complex but it can be fun, The word I learnt more about was gravity for example when you walk you have gravity so you can jump around a bit. This project was definitely fun

and I learnt a lot about aerodynamics and the 4 forces of flight.

This term technically we are starting something called home chemistry for our science project. This was our first task.

Aim: To learn the names of 10 household chemicals, their elements, and reactions with other substances.

In conclusion:

I learned a lot of new things like what everyday house hold objects have in them and if they are a solid/gas/or liquid, I feel like home chem is going to be a very fun project and I am aiming to get a science badge. Hope you enjoyed this. 

The Big Day Out

The big day out
for the past couple weeks we have been writing recounts about a special event or events that have happened in the past. here is mine. 100 Words Challenge

On a warm day with a bit of wind there I was walking past the fair,

 there was big rides and small rides,
but one of the rides caught my eye the tea cup  I mean it was not great but I wanted to start slow.
Before I knew it I payed for the ride I waited, finally,

the ride started  slow and then sped up maybe a little to fast I heard something crack and then thwing I was flying in the air while spinning, drop I landed straight in the grass and then the teacup stayed.
